In November 2022 Sam founded ForgeFront, a futures and foresight consultancy that prepares organisations for the opportunities and threats of tomorrow. It is a trusted supplier on the UK Government’s Futures Procurement Framework and on Dstl’s ASTRID and R-Cloud frameworks, and has delivered important projects and campaigns for the Cabinet Office, FCDO, DSIT, MoD, international governments, Sport England, the RNIB, Defra, Leonardo and others.

Why futures and foresight?

Businesses

A longitudinal study by Rohrbeck and Kum (2018) found that firms with mature foresight practices beat the average by 33% on profitability and 200% on market capitalisation growth. Firms with weak foresight underperformed by up to 108%.

Individuals

A systematic review of 21 studies (Pawlak and Moustafa, 2023) found future-oriented people show higher engagement, stronger self-efficacy and better performance than their less future-oriented peers.

Governments

OECD studies and a survey of 19 US federal agencies show that governments which embed strategic foresight produce more robust and resilient policy, and are better placed to escape short-term muddling through.

ForgeFront is one of only 35 suppliers on the UK Government’s Futures Procurement Framework, the route through which departments, devolved administrations and public bodies buy foresight. ForgeFront is also procured by the UK government for work on research, insights and defence.
